How to deal with Trolls

March 19, 2018

Sometimes you can't control whether you will become the trolls target you can decide if you will make yourself a troll's victim. Knowing that the troll's goal is to  humiliate , ridicule , embarrass and shame you , you have a choice how you are going to react to them.

You can either be  angry or whatever emotion they want you to feel or you can look at the attack for what is , a horrible person being horrible. It isn't personal if you refuse to take it personally. Recognize that the troll is the one with the issue. If the attack is directed at you exclusively , via email or as  a comment on your site, document it so you can report the abuse , then delete and forget it.

Call out their behaviour , many people recommend you simply ignore trolls and don't respond in anyway, but this gives the trolls even more power to silence you. Instead ignore the troll but address the problem with a  audience in a matter of fact way. Do not respond in a manner that stoops to the trolls level or you risk two outcomes : feeding the troll and engaging in unwinnable argument that will escalate or 2 : having the audience see you as another irritant/troll rather than as balanced , decent and aggrieved party.

Understand that there are more than troll and this possibly can more drama , nasty comments and that means you have to deal with or ignore more trolls.

Self care is key take some time out spend your time with people who love you ,the comments aren't true and people that love know your a good person. Spend your time wisely and focus on positive things.
